Some setup procedures can be carried out through a Telnet con-

nection, during which data is transmitted through NPort Express’s

Ethernet port. However, you must set SW1 to OFF to establish

a Telnet connection.

IP Address Configuration

You may choose from two different methods to configure the IP ad-

dress assigned to your NPort Express. Note that NPort Express is

shipped with the IP address set to the following by default:

Default IP address: 192.168.127.254

Telnet Console

Depending on how your computer and network are configured, you

may find it convenient to use network access to set up NPort Ex-

press’s IP address. This can be done using the Telnet program.

(The figures that follow were generated using a Windows 98 host.)

1. From the Windows 98 desktop click on Start and then select

Run.

2. In the Open text input box, type telnet 192.168.127.254

(use the correct IP address if different from the default), and then

click OK.
